Financial support will enable us to continue restoration on a downstream section of Hagan Creek, on the neighbouring property. This will be the fifth section of Hagan Creek that we have restored. Restoration activities on this property will include reintroducing meanders, pools and riffles into the stream, addition of large woody debris and gravel for habitat, and riparian zone planting with native shrubs and trees.
With financial support, Peninsula Streams Society will be able to restore, protect and maintain the waterways of the Saanich Peninsula for the benefit of wildlife and the community at large.
Make a charitable financial donation
In February 2006 we received our ‘charitable status’ from Revenue Canada – this means that we can issue tax receipts for donations to Peninsula Streams! Donate to us online by visiting the Canada Helps website, and choose the fund designation ‘Area of Greatest Need.’
An individual membership with Peninsula Streams is only $10/year. Memberships are important to us because they show our funders (municipalities, foundations, etc.) that our community supports us and what we do. Purchase a membership here.
Volunteer in one of our programs
Take part in one of the many projects underway to enhance Saanich Peninsula watersheds and educate our youth about their importance, function and beauty. If you would like to volunteer with us, we encourage you to become a member as well. The nominal membership fee ($10/year) helps to offset our volunteer insurance costs.
When you load money onto your Smile Card, Thrifty Foods donates an additional 5% of the loaded amount to Peninsula Streams. The Smile Card can then be used like cash to make purchases at Thrifty Foods. This fundraiser doesn’t cost our supporters (you!) anything – all the money comes from Thrifty’s.
