Thursday, May 8 – Social Hour starting at 5:30 pm, Dinner served at 6:30 pm
Sandi Harte, the owner of the Seahorses Cafe, has graciously agreed to host our 5th Annual Peninsula Streams Dinner and Silent Auction in May this year. That means that some lucky people will be able to occupy the tables outside on the seaside deck of the restaurant in the sunset and we can accommodate up to 45 people with plenty of elbow room. Hopefully, the mellow sounds of Bob DeWolff and Farrell Boyce of “Water in the Crawl Space” fame can be amped up just enough to reach everyone.
Once again, tickets for the dinner are $40 or two for $75. And this includes both taxes and gratuities. Contact Francesca Loro to order your tickets and to indicate which of the delicious entrees from the menu below you would like.
Gourmet three course meal Spinach salad with strawberries, cranberries and red onion drizzled in chili vinaigrette
Your choice of entree:
1) Sweet soy ginger glazed wild Sockeye salmon served with black bean and coconut rice, roasted vegetables
2) Chicken breast stuffed with Swiss cheese and ham, served potatoes au gratin and roasted vegetables
3) Smoked salmon, cherry tomatoes and spinach in a cream sauce on linguine (also available as a vegetarian dish) Dessert Granny Smith apple pie served with warm vanilla bean ice cream.Coffee and tea will also be served.
And then there’s the Great Silent Auction!
We have a lot of fun with our Silent Auction as well as raising a fair amount of money for Peninsula Streams. The auction items are donated by both local businesses and individuals. In the past, these have included art works, environmental and social guided tours, a dinner date with your favourite MP, goods and gift certificates from local businesses and even expert assistance with your garden. And you can help out greatly here by dreaming up or tracking down an auction item and giving the details to Francesca within the next week or so so that she can post it on our Silent Auction site and we’ll get the bidding process rolling. To give you some inspiration, here’s the link to last year’s Auction site:https://plus.google.com/
Of course, we don’t just accept bids on the Auction site. Those who attend the Dinner will be able to view all of the items on display and that’s when the bidding get’s really heated with Newton Hockey, the Peninsula Streams Chair, acting as Chief Auctioneer. But for those of you who just can’t wait, we already have two items ready to roll, both of which may be regarded in some sense as sublime and earthy. Here they are:
Norris Bay II (2014)
Oil on masonite framed painting by Farrell Boyce; Suggested minimum bid price – $150
“THE BEST FROM SUN PUDDLE FARM”
Brenda and Marjorie will deliver a brimming load of horse manure from Sun Puddle Farm straight to your garden. All bids of $100 are usually accepted.
Please respond to Francesca Loro, our Stewardship Coordinator, as soon as possible either to order your tickets for the Dinner or to get your donations to the Silent Auction onto our list. Remember, there’s just over two weeks to go until we get together on May 8. Let the fun begin!
