Shawn Stebbins
Chair
With a background spanning three decades among commercial fisheries, Shawn, has devoted 25 years to improving resource sustainability through effective fisheries monitoring and management. Since helping to develop BC’s world-class groundfish fisheries monitoring program, Shawn has worked closely with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the International Pacific Halibut Commission, the Environmental Defense Fund, and a varied portfolio of commercial fisheries, regulators, and NGOs to develop and support sustainable seafood initiatives around the world.
John Macdonald
Vice-Chair
John holds a Diploma in Business Administration (Marketing Management) from St. Lawrence College. He enjoyed a successful career in the building supplies industry, holding senior management positions with Beaver Lumber Co Ltd. and West Fraser Building Supplies Ltd. John later owned and operated several building supplies, trucking and sawmill businesses in British Columbia, as well as land development companies. He is a past Director of the Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF), past Chair of the PSF Annual Gala Dinner & Auction Fundraiser, and a former director of the Union Club of BC.
Lawrence Statland
Treasurer
Lawrence has spent much of his life involved in music and finance. Lately he has been spending much of his time outside volunteering on restoration projects. Many afternoons he can be found in Rithet’s Bog working as part of the Rithet’s Bog Conservation Society. He also dedicates time as a director on the boards of numerous other local non-profit organizations. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and a Master of Environmental Studies.
Bill Thomas
Secretary
Bill’s background is as a Behaviour Sciences Research Technician. He served as Major with the Governor General’s Horse Guards (RCAC), retiring in 1992. He later worked as Senior Research Associate for Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and as Executive Committee and Vice Chair of St John Ambulance Toronto Branch. He is a member of the Westcoast Fly fishing Association, Gorge Waterway Initiative, Secretary of the British Columbia Wildlife Federation Region One (Vancouver Island), and a Director of the Goldstream Volunteer Salmonid Enhancement Association.
Daniel Healey
Past Chair
Daniel is a Chartered Accountant with over 18 years of experience. His practice is focused primarily on publicly accountable enterprises, approximately a third of which are not-for-profit entities and registered charities. As avid outdoor people, Daniel and his wife Jill have spent countless hours camping, hiking and kayaking in the natural beauty of this land and believes that it's imperative that we protect it for future generations. Daniel is passionate about giving back to the community and brings much experience and financial expertise to the Society.
