Invasive European Green Crab Trapping

Join us and the Bilston Watershed Habitat Protection Association for our last two-day trapping event of the season for the invasive European green crab at Witty’s Lagoon! Day 1 involves baiting and setting traps (~1 hour), and Day 2 involves pulling the traps and processing species caught (~2 hours). This work will involve wading through the soft-bottom intertidal zone at low tide, and bending/crouching to set and pull traps.

In order to attend, participants must complete both Invasive Species Council of BC online training courses (free):

  1. Getting to Know European Green Crab (15 min)
  2. Trapping and Licencing; European Green Crab (40 min)

Email certificates of completion to chloe.kraemer@peninsulastreams.ca (only required once).
