SṈIDȻEȽ Resiliency Project Volunteer Day – Oct
Join us and the PEPAKEṈ HÁUTW̱ team for hands-on restoration of SṈIDȻEȽ (Tod Inlet, Gowlland-Tod Provincial Park). SṈIDȻEȽ, meaning “Place of the Blue Grouse” in SENĆOŦEN, is the first W̱SÁNEĆ village site and a place of enduring cultural significance for the W̱SÁNEĆ People. Restoration activities will include targeted removal of emerging invasive plant species, such as Himalayan blackberry, beach pea, English ivy, and Canada thistle. Come experience the beauty of SṈIDȻEȽ, learn about its history, and steward the land!
Where: SṈIDȻEȽ (Tod Inlet, Gowlland-Tod Provincial Park near The Butchart Gardens). Park on the side of the road near the Wallace Dr gate at the Tod Inlet Trailhead and follow the trail down to the water (10-15 min walk). See a map of directions here.
What to bring: Water, sturdy footwear, and layers for sun/wind/rain you don’t mind getting dirty. All tools and gloves provided. Washrooms on site.
